Kaah Market, owned by the CARAVANTES FAMILY (natives of Guatemala City), is one of the Portland Mercado’s oldest tenants. It's split into two markets: a general one that sells basic necessities (from tortillas to produce) and one that specializes in meats. Choose from a diverse range of more than 20 select cuts of meat, such as chicken pastor or carne asada from Latin America.
However, Kaah Market may be the best known for its sauces. Out of the 17 varieties, the most popular is Cobán — a smoky and spicy topping named for its foundational pepper as well as the Guatemalan city, Cobán, where it originated. Soon you’ll be able to find Kaah Market sauces at local retailers such as Market of Choice and New Seasons.
