When Qué Bacano! opened four years ago, it was one of the first food carts or restaurants in Portland to serve Colombian food. But since then, wife and husband, KAREN CASTAÑEDA and ANDRÉS FELIPE PÉREZ TOVAR have even opened a bakery inside the Portland Mercado.
One natively popular option is the patacones, an open-faced dish made of fried plantains paired with chicken, beef or pork. Another popular choice is the national dish, bandeja paisa, a savory mix of beans, sausage, steak, arepas, maduros, and chicharrones. For dessert, don’t forget to pop inside to the Qué Bacano! bakery and try the Colombian version of tres leches.
